Just what I needed - a relaxing weekend. After visiting a few of my favorite websites once or twice a day, I am keeping the computer turned off! And loving it! Now, that doesn't count photoshop, of course. ;) That is up and running constantly. :D
We are moving around the downstairs - STILL. It started off on New Year's weekend and we're still going. We bought new family room furniture and decided that it was just a tad bit too big for the family room and we had a completely unused living room that had a ton more room - such a waste of space. So, we decided to turn the living room into a family room and turn the family room into a den - with desks for both of us, as well as a couch and bookcases and scrapping stuff. It's really an awesome idea because I hate scrapping in the basement even though my scraproom is beautiful. But, it's still on a different floor and I hate that. So, great plan, right? Right. Implementing that plan has not been the easiest thing, though. We're still living in piles and have blank walls and no desks, so my scrapping stuff is piled all over the dining room table, floor, chairs, etc.
Somehow, I am churning out my HOF entry in all this mess - including running up and down to the basement when I want to print or need something else that I haven't yet moved up here. But, HOF is coming along - 8 done and I LOVE 6 of them - truly my best work. I've tuned into a new something that is totally working for me - sketching and planning. It is really producing a higher level of work for me. Not that I expect to win, but I will at least be proud of what I send in and won't be embarrassed by my entry. And that's a good thing. I was mortified by most of what I sent in to MMM and I don't want that to happen again. The MMM LO that I really felt good about was picked up for the Best of the Masters book - that was a good gut check for me. I am recognizing when my work is good and that's another good thing.
Now, if I can just find the time to fix the 2 LOs that I don't love, as well as do the other 2 freebies, it will be a really good thing.
I was tagged by one of my favorite people in the whole world - BOO! - otherwise known as Lisa. This one looks like fun.

For those of you who know anything about scrapbooking, you will understand when I say that I'm tired of the drama! A little levity please!
So, here's some fun blogs to check out. Blogs that always make me smile and usually laugh.
Torm's blog entry - this about killed me I laughed so hard!!
Have fun!!!! :D
It is so hard to believe that that is today's date. I am 38 years old today and, while I'm not bothered by my age, I am shocked to believe that I'm really this old. I mean really. I still feel like that 16-year-old girl who sat in her bedroom all day long reading book after book and blaring Hall & Oates over and over again. I don't feel any different than the 25-year-old me who went off to law school ready to conquer the world. I'm seriously a bit scared that next time I blink I'm going to be 58 and wonder where my life went. Maybe that's why I'm so drawn to scrapbooking - the "capture the moment and preserve it for posterity" thing, ya know? Or maybe I've just been sniffing too much Mod Podge today! ;) Anyway, I hope your day was as good as mine!
Okay, I'm biting the bullet and getting organized. I'm not spurred on the New Year, but rather by the chaos in our house right now. Major redecorating and room moving is going on in our house and we have dismantled bookcases, piled up furniture, bought new furniture and and are purging big time right now. There is not one completely usable room in our downstairs right now and I am simply not functioning well with the chaos. So, I bit the bullet and bought a planner yesterday.
This one to be exact based on friends' recommendations. For the past couple of years, I've basically used my wall calendar in the kitchen for most of my scheduling. Before that, and for about 10+ years, I was a die hard Franklin planner user. Worshiper - to be more accurate. I had every kind of Franklin planner ever made and marketed in the U.S. - leather, vinyl, big, small, briefcase-type, black, burgundy - you get the idea. And then one day it just got to be too much. Too much to carry around, too much organization, too big, too many notes to take, and it seriously took up too much room in my arms or bag when I was also carrying a baby and a toddler and a purse and a diaper bag. So, I started using my kitchen wall calendar. And, now, that's not enough. I'm more on the go than I've been since Andrew was born - he's a tiny bit easier to take out in public these days - and the girls are getting older and have activities and events and groups that must be scheduled. So, back to needing a planner that will go with me. And January is going to be a doozy of a month! I am already so scheduled and so busy, my head is whirling. Here's hoping this thing has some magic built into it and can help me to be more productive!
Tell me and I'll forget. Show me and I'll remember. Involve me and I'll understand.
If you open the lines of comunication and involve everyone, there is hope that people will understand each other and come to a compromise. Turning a blind eye or running away never helps.
Happy New Year to all!!!
I love a New Year!!! Just saying the word "January" makes me think of a clean slate, a fresh start, and organization. Doesn't hurt that it's also my birthday month so, as a kid, waiting for January was literally waiting for a new year for me!
We have started off this year re-doing our entire downstairs. Sigh. So exciting, but so time-consuming and so messy during the process. Mostly just re-decorating, no major construction, but we're living out of piles and in half-finished rooms.
Did I mention that I was trying to do my HOF entry during all of this mess??????
But, it will all be good in the end! As sooooo many others have said, my computer time is probably going to be the first thing to go, so if you're looking for me, you know where I am!!!
