Since we got Sawyer-the-crazy-but-terribly-cute puppy in December, I've barely left the house. I went on two weekend trips in January but since then I haven't been away from my house for more than 4 hours at a time. Because of the puppy. It's worse than having a child. Way worse. Anyway, this post is not really about the cute puppy that ties me to my house.
This post is about my escape. As soon as the vet told me that he would have to stay overnight when he got neutered, I started planning my escape. No walking, no feeding, no training for 36 hours.
Sharyn (Torm) and I had been trying to plan something for months and so I immediately emailed, "Hey! I have 36 hours free!" And she said, "Come on up!"
And then Ashley saw that I was coming and emailed me, too. Ashley has recently disovered digi scrapping and has been hanging out at Designer Digitals and I was psyched!!!
So, Monday morning, I dropped the puppy off at the vet's and headed north. I got to Sharyn's house around 1 pm and hung out with her and Brian and Mark.
Look at Brian! He is such a doll! He really holds a special place in my heart. The last time I was at Sharyn's house was about 2 years ago and Brian was 2. He barely said a word to me the entire time, but he sat beside me and held my hand for hours. There's just something about him that instantly stole my heart. And this visit was no exception. He sat with me on the couch and snuggled and we read a story and he found it very interesting that my cleavage was a great place to rest his Matchbox cars. LOL!
And then there's Markie! Such a sweetie! He really wasn't upset. He just thought it was a riot to stick his lip out and pout for photos. He was smiling inbetween photo attempts. LOL! I see why Sharyn says he gives her a run for her money. :)
I brought up some of Andrew's too-small clothes for the boys and Brian loved this Batman nightshirt with attached cape. And there's Sharyn in the background! I meant to tell her and forgot - I loved her hair!!! I think it was more curly than I had seen it before and it was really cute on her.
And then after a bit, I went to my hotel and unpacked while Sharyn got her big kids settled into homework and then we drove to meet Ashley for dinner.
Yummy!!! We went to The Melting Pot and had cheese fondue, a salad, a fondue entree, and then chocolate fondue. Worth every stinkin' Weight Watchers point!!!
That's Ashley in the background. I didn't get many Sharyn and Ashley photos. :( But we all took a lot of photos of the food! LOL!
Oh my gosh, the bananas and the rice krispie treats in the chocolate fondue were fantastic!
I would definitely go back there, but I probably ought to save up a bit - it could easily become a very pricey meal!
I also had a chance to run on a fancy hotel treadmill (to die for and now I'm lusting after one!), shop at the outlet mall by my hotel and sleep completely uninterrupted. Bliss! Plus, I took Tom's new car and had a 4-disc changer. tee hee
All in all, it was just a fantastic two days. I needed some time away - time to be by myself, not to be a mommy or a wife or the primary puppy-caretaker. I just needed to be me. And I also needed to spend time with friends - great friends.
After 4+ years of hanging out online with so many scrapping friends, it still amazes me how wonderful this hobby is. My internet friends come to life are simply the best!
