And I'm almost giddy about it. Except when I think about it too hard and then I start to panic that I'll never remember how to use the left side of my brain again.
Law degree, schmaw degree. I won't think about how much money and time that was that's now going to waste because being a crafty nerd is so much more fun. :)
Sew, So, about the quilt. The quilt that is really 2 quilts because I don't like the fabric I originally chose and decided to use it to make a "practice" quilt. Which is a good thing considering I've never sewn before this project. That photo above is the for the backing and binding of the practice quilt. And for the backing and binding of the 2 dolls' quilts that I'm making for the girls out of the scraps.
Yes, my one quilt has suddenly morphed into 4 quilts (and that doesn't count what I'm going to do with the scraps from the second quilt).
Here's the front of the practice quilt so far. The top is done. I can't believe I actually did it. It's 36 quilt blocks pieced together to make a 66" x 66" quilt.
I've learned a lot from this quilt.
First, if you don't like some of the fabrics, don't use them!!! They will not blend in and your eye will be drawn only to the ugly fabrics. I hated the orange and the green fabric from the minute I saw them but they were part of this fabric line and I needed two other fabrics to fit the pattern. So, I bought them and used them and I hate them. :p
Second, I like brighter colors. This will be just fine for the kids to use to play with. They can drag it outside to use as a blanket or take it to the beach but it's not going to be one that I will display because it simply isn't "happy" enough for me.
Now, here's some happy colors. :)
This makes me swoon with happiness. I'm staying one step behind the quilting class on this quilt. I want to make sure I understand all of the steps (by working on the first quilt) before I start piecing this one together.
And here are some of the other fabrics for this quilt cut into blocks.
I cannot wait to piece this top together!
More to come later this week. :)
