And what I hope is the final entry in our home saga:
We basically gave the sellers an ultimatum, their realtor called the septic inspector who backed up everything he had told us verbally, and the sellers backed down!!!! We will be closing on this house in 2 weeks. :)
And for those of you who have been following the saga on Facebook, too, this is the bigger house that needs some work, not the smaller, renovated one. All of the walls and trim look pretty good in these photos but not so good up close. They are dirty and dingy and everything has to be repainted. Much of the carpet needs to be replaced and is badly stained. The appliances and all the light fixtures and faucets are all old and need to be replaced, as well as most of the cabinetry in all the bathrooms. And that's okay with us. From what I can tell from other homes we looked at and comparables in this neighborhood, if we put $10,000 into the house, it will probably be worth another $75,000. Which is exactly why we chose this house. And why it was affordable for us when it otherwise wouldn't have been in our price range.
