Finding creative inspiration is not hard to come by. I find myself inspired to create all the time. All.The.Freaking.Time. Instagram, Pinterest, Blogs, and Facebook - the wonderful designers that I follow constantly inspire me and give me creative ideas. But life doesn't always make that kind of time easy to find and, to be perfectly honest, I'm not always motivated to find the time.
But this weekend, I made the time and oh my good grief, do I need to do that more often!
I bought Ali Edwards' Story Kit this month and all it took was 37 minutes of watching the accompanying video and listening to Ali discuss story ideas and I was totally motivated. I think we forgot sometimes that the creative process is not just a means to an end - the goal is to record our families' memories, of course. But the process itself is also therapy for our souls. Creativity relieves stress and reduces anxiety and I was so ready for that kind of therapy.
What is really weird is that I made a traditional paper layout. I can't even remember when I last did that. I had two new Project Life Value Kits, too, and I was really planning on using them all on my gratitude album. But something crazy took over my brain - motivation - and I made a layout.
And I freaking love it!!!
I used older photos, even photos that I've scrapped before, but with a story that hadn't been told before. And that's the part that I love the most.
I'm a total sucker for word stickers and stars and it was so much fun to combine both of those elements.
This card is from Ali's kit. I love that she includes both 4x6 and 3x4 cards that we can use for either Project Life or other traditional projects.
I've never used wood veneer before and it's my new favorite embellishment. This was perfect for a title. I paired it with another word sticker.
And the journaling - getting this story told about my kids and our mornings. The best.
